While the four Peos brothers have worked hard to develop the Peos Winery, they have also made certain their late grandfather’s passion for farming – as well as his love of food, wine and hospitality – survives.
Together the brothers own and operate a seed potato farming business, as well as the Manjimup Hotel and the Manjimup Cellarbration Liquor Store. Their passion for all things wine-related has also led them to venture into the city and they jointly own and operate Moondyne Joe’s Pub & Bistro in Fremantle.
Vic Peos
Vic takes pride in being the family member responsible for the daily management and operation of Peos Estate. He is in charge of viticulture, export strategy, Australian distribution, brand building and wine assessment. Vic is passionate about the winery and is dedicated to the future growth and prosperity of Peos Estate.
Kon Peos
Kon inherited his grandfather’s love of agriculture and manages the Peos seed potato farming business. The business involves growing potato seeds and exporting them to exotic locations including Thailand, Vietnam and Mauritius. One of the perks of Kon’s job is his “duty” to travel to these destinations to oversee the potato farming operations and ensure his client’s potatoes are thriving. His hardest job is convincing his other brothers that these trips are “work” and not a holiday!
John Peos
John is a familiar face around town – and a rather popular one too – as he runs two of the locals’ favourite places, the Manjimup Hotel and the Cellarbration liquor store.
Both of the businesses keep John very busy spreading the Peos love of wine, food and hospitality.
Chris Peos
In 1988 Chris and his family made the big move away from Manjimup to head to Fremantle to manage and operate Moondyne Joe’s Pub & Bistro.
The bar is just a short stroll from Fremantle's famous cappuccino strip and Chris ensures the bar and bottleshop are always fully stocked with premium south-west WA wines – including Peos Estate of course!
Athina Peos (Tinka)
Athina Peos (or Tinka as she likes to be called) – the Peos brothers’ mum – plays a very important part in the family business. She moved out to Australia with her husband Jim in 1951 and together they worked hard to build the Peos business and create the traditions that continue today. Athina cooks a traditional Macedonian lunch for her sons and their families every day and her door is always open to extended family! She is best known for her wisdom and her opinions and judgement are highly respected by the family in all of their business decisions.
Other “family”
The winery’s pruning period runs from the beginning of June until the end of December and is the busiest part of the year for Peos Estate. During this time, the winery employs up to 12 staff – mainly locals and retired farmers – to help gather the grapes from the vines.
Overall, the Peos family businesses employ 70 people. | | | |
